All of our activities are delivered depending on the child’s age and skill level (T. Bompa guidelines). Fair play and attitude is everything. We pride ourselves that we help every child discover their inner and outer strengths, and weaknesses. The children learn to train harder than they have before. They will become more aware of what it takes to push past their comfort zone. All of this, in a fun and safe learning environment. We have weekly discussions on tricky topics such as school, respect, focus, bullying and other common issues one can run into. We strive to give each child the right tools and attitude to take on new challenges head on.
Our first, and most important goal, is to teach the children fair play. Second, is to be gracious winners and even better losers. We do this through competing in fun games which teach basic motor patterns including: Running, skipping, throwing, jumping, balance, push-ups, sit-ups, and many more. And, lastly… Learning hard work: How to grow and push past your limits.
Speed, agility, balance and precision come more into play, this combined with strength training. Mountain Shidokan focusses more on using our body weight to gain strength (plank, wall sit, pushups, sit-ups, etc). Learning to control body and mind helps the children to build balance, faster reaction time and a better understanding of how to generate power.
